WHY YOU MAY WANT TWO PHOTOGRAPHERS

Should you add a second photographer to your tomKphoto service? To help decide if the increased cost is worth it for you, we’ve outlined how 2 photographers can enhance your wedding gallery.

A single photographer is constantly deciding where to stand and what to capture. A second photographer can hedge this guess, and potentially tell a deeper emotional story. Here we offer examples:

PRE-CEREMONY

Most couples (and their attendants — bridesmaids, groomsmen) get ready in separate spaces. A single photographer has to juggle what’s the most important image at the moment. The hour before ceremony is packed with activity — arrival at site, dressing, pre-ceremony group and individual photos with each of your attendants and close family members, as well as casual moments of anticipation. You each will be getting ready in separate spaces. Only you know how important it is to you for us to record these moments.

A groom ties his shoe (left) while a bride is helped into her dress (right) at the same time on different floors of the venue. Two photographers can capture moments in different locations, simultaneously.

These images were captured at nearly the same time by the couple’s two photographers. One photographer will capture both sides of the bridal party, but if things run late, the photographer will be rushed and the creativity in lining up the groups may show it.

CEREMONY

During the processional a single photographer will be upfront with the officiant, focused on who’s coming down the aisle (left). A second photographer will stay focused on the groom’s reaction (right) and the emotion of walking into your ceremony.

RECEPTION

During the reception one photographer can capture the dance floor action (left), while a second photographer can handle instant group photo requests (right).

ANOTHER SPY IN THE HOUSE OF LOVE

One photographer will deliver fun candids of your wedding, but all of the images you see here were taken by the second photographer at the event. Another creative set of eyes could capture your favorite images!

DO WE GET TWICE AS MANY IMAGES?

Not twice as many, but the image count does increase. On a typical wedding day, expect 75-125 finished images per coverage hour with one photographer. Couples who select coverage by two photographers are likely to see 100-150 images per coverage hour.
