ELIZABETH HOTEL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER PORTFOLIO
ANGIE + CORIE | ELIZABETH HOTEL WEDDING, FORT COLLINS
Three-part style, two parts sass, a touch of cheek at Old Town’s modern-classic hotel. After a warm & joyful ceremony, we walked the nearby sidewalks for the couple’s photos, and I gasped when Corie pointed out his bike, locked on the street, that he had ridden to the wedding. Why take a limo when I can bike well? Only in Fort Collins. Ironically, a few months after the wedding, I ran into the couple again, except this time I was on my bike in Tour de Fat, dressed as Ken (my wife went as Barbie).
The Elizabeth has become a star venue in the heart of Fort Collins. The location is perfect for guests to explore the city center, and I leverage that location for photography. The alley between the on-site Magic Rat bar and the Firehouse Alley parking garage is perfect for group photos at any time of the day. The hotel’s structure shields the sun, and we can always count on that space for great open shade with no hot spots on any subject’s face. Depending on the time of day, all sides of The Elizabeth’s exterior offer up great photo opportunities. During a couple’s photo sneak-out of 15~20 minutes, there are so many opportunities for images along Walnut Street, the alley next to Bean Cycle, or we can also walk a longer circle to Linden.
ELEGANCE INSIDE
Inside the hotel, everyone loves group and couple photos on the grand modern staircase. I always bring professional lighting to enhance the scene, since the hotel’s lighting on the staircase is functional rather than seductive. Skintones get a bit flat on the staircase without lighting help, so I bring the right lighting tools. The lounge seating near the pocket doors to the Magic Rat is also a favorite—the window light there is so flattering.
Depending on the day you envision, we can also transport away from the venue for a mix of epic (Horseooth Reservoir) or serene (Lee Martinez Park). It’s about a 45-minute commitment, including travel and photo time, so it's best to do it earlier in the day, with a first reveal before the ceremony.
I’m happy to help with a wedding day timeline and find a photographer coverage level that’s right-sized for your event. Contact me to start a discussion—I’m excited to hear about your plans (thus far).
