YMCA Of The Rockies Wedding :: Estes Park Center :: Jenna & Aaron
45+ mile per hours winds — all day — didn’t spoil the fun! The couple met years back at a Bible youth retreat as teens so the YMCA compound seemed like the perfect place for a wedding celebration before recent college diplomas take them far away on life’s grand adventure. I had to watch my step all day, as the toddler count was at an all time high — something in the water. Since everyone was bringing their children, I brought my son Cole to handle lighting and logistics. Often I have him wear a camera with a long lens (just in case) and he always turns in a great photo or two. Here’s two of his from the processional …
I particularly loved Jenna pulling Aaron through the recessional, both skipping away. A visual metaphor for days to come perhaps. Following is a great wedding tip — have a receiving line. Photographically, it pays off in a big way. All your friends and family, occupied (no photo game face) with great expressions of joy on their face. Park ’em in nice light and they’re sitting ducks for your wedding photographer.
This YMCA of The Rockies wedding reception featured a fleet of homemade pies and some great dancing from Aaron and his brothers. It seems dancing was a big thing in their house and all the women at the reception wanted a turn out on the floor. Jenna waited for some private dancing outdoors as couple and photographer celebrated the dusk lightshow on the Rocky Mountain skyline. The wind mellowed enough for some nice outdoor photos before we all said goodnight.
YMCA of the Rockies Wedding :: Estes Park, Colorado :: Nicole + Jonathan
This courtship plays like a screenplay … Young and energetic new Pastor in small mid-western town falls for one of the parishioner’s daughters. She’s a professional running organizer a few states away, but marriage will sort all that out (in time).
The Estes Park weather on Labor Day weekend is always so perfect. High sun, light breeze. The bagpiper’s melody drifts into the wind, occasionally echoing back from a distant peak. Witnessing vows exchanged in this setting inspires married guests to reflect on their own vows. The scenery mandates optimism.
