I’m proud to have two 3-foot canvas prints in the lobby of Mindstream Yoga in Fort Collins. Mindstream Yoga is South Fort Collins’ newest yoga studio, located in the Front Range Village (dubbed, “New Town” by my kids). They will be seasonally rotating out images in the front reception area.

Bee on Black Eyed Susan Fort Collins Colorado

Bee on Black-Eyed Susan | Fort Collins, 2009

Sometimes you see the most amazing things in your own yard. Sonia planted some Black-Eyed Susans (rudbeckia hirta) on our North side and they gave two years of late Summer color. This guy dropped by for a drink one August morning in 2009. Often morning light does such a dance on our North side with the mix of shade and reflected light from concrete and house siding. It really added a dramatic flair to this routine Summer moment. 60mm Macro, ƒ11 @ 1/332nd shutter speed – digitally captured at iso400 and available here.

Windfarm | Pawnee National Grasslands, 2009

Afternoon adventures on Father’s Day. The wildflowers were particularly good that year NorthEast of Fort Collins, almost to the Wyoming border. While the search was for flower photos, I was struck by the odd beauty of man’s contribution to this prairie landscape. If spend any rural time around Wyoming these days, you can’t miss the windfarms and in the right light they have their own beauty. 100mm, ƒ6.4 at 1/332nd shutter speed. Digitally captured at iso400. Your copy is available here.

Mindstream Yoga in Fort Collins

Owned and managed by a unique Step-Daughter / Step-Mother relationship of Lindsay & Darla Roselle, Mindstream is the newest yoga studio on the South side of Fort Collins. Located in the Front Range Village shopping center, the studio is a quick walk from the Council Tree Library and Front Range Village dog park. Experienced yogis will recognize many on the teaching staff, as almost all have logged teaching time various studios around town. Kudos to the installing of the TRX suspension training system. I love the location, clean design, and the BIG practice room with plenty of morning light — here’s to a prosperous future for Mindstream!

I LOVE Mindstream. Was just there this morning. Didn’t look at the wall (I had too much sweat in my eyes!), but I’ll check them out tomorrow. Love your shots of the studio too.

courtney + marc :: inverness hotel wedding

I invited Sonia to tag along with me on this wedding — back to the same hotel where WE were married in 1994 …

And here we are to meet Courtney in room 5001 — The President’s Suite. The suite were John Kerry crammed for Presidential Debate #2 in the 2004 Election. The suite were my new wife, close friends and I partied until 3 a.m on our Wedding Night (well, next morning technically). Here we go … knock knock.

Courtney + Marc

But this is about your photographer’s past, this is about Courtney & Marc. Back to the future. Courtney’s family from the West Slope was so gracious hosting family, friends, and their new in-laws from all over the country. C & M are realistic, and know marriage won’t be 24-7 bliss but they have something no other couple has — an emergency box. They wrote secret notes to each other, got a bottle really nice wine, and hammered it shut during the ceremony. If things ever get really dicy in marriage, break open the box! By chance if they never fight, never have the moment of truth, then they can just pop it open on their 50th Anniversary and remember this day. The box and hammer were fashioned by relatives, and I couldn’t resist making the ornate hammer a prop for Courtney & Marc’s ring shot.

We’ll Be Back

After saying good night and well-wishes to the couple, Sonia and I retired to our own hotel room (not the President’s Suite, it was booked) and reflected on our day at The Inverness and all the years and laughs since. Although the name has been changed from The Scanticon when we married here, the architecture, great staff, and vibes are unchanged. Looking forward to returning again!

Thinking about your own Inverness Hotel wedding? Please click on the camera below to see if I’m available on your day. I’d love to hear what you’re planning.
