Kristi & Troy | Custer State Park Wedding South Dakota Sylvan Lake
Kristi, a Northern Colorado native spent months looking for the perfect resort wedding venue. For a couple of seasons we traded eMail as she would virtually hunt for Rocky Mountain venues on the internet. In the end, she picked the one from her future husband’s backyard — Sylvan Lake Lodge in Custer State Park. I had explored Sylvan Lake years prior on a family adventure, and everyone knows it from the National Treasure film series, but I wasn’t expecting quite the jaw-dropping ceremony it turned out to be. After a week in the park of 30+ mph winds, K+T’s perfect Autumn day ended with mirror-like waters on the lake. So serene! The lodge and banquet hall go back to a 1930’s federal works project and are lush with dark woods and black hills stone. The banquet hall sits closer to the water and was recently renovated with warm tones and great lighting. Shout out to JDProductions from Rapid City — hardest workers in show business. The sound, music picks, lighting and effects were all masterful. If you’re planning a Custer State Park Wedding, I’d be honored to document it.
