Somewhere between Lyons and Estes Park lies the very cool Stone Mountain Lodge. When I met Jeannie & Josh they were so excited about their wedding venue find. Imagine an old 60’s style roadside motel, renovated, and surrounded by pretty meadows, cabins, water bodies, and wildflowers. All day I kept saying to myself “this is really something.”
So rent the whole facility and you’ve got a private compound for a family reunion/wedding. Big fun. J & J hosted relatives from all over The West, and they all feel in love with the swimming, hiking, and scenery around the Lodge. The wedding was planned to take place in their ceremony amphitheater, but rain forced us in the reception tent. The staff worked quickly to convert the space into a ceremony area and as the photos reflect, it was full of smiles.
Chipolte catered the reception which kept the mood light. I particularly enjoyed a portion of their world-famous grilled chicken all by itself. (cue Homer Simpson, ‘mmmm, chicken’)
Thankfully, the rain didn’t continue through the reception which allowed guests to party & dance under the stars. The music went late into the night!
