Let’s start this photo essay with a genuine moment from the end of the day. Satisfied after a successful family gathering, our couple danced alone on a breezy Summer balcony, fixed in each other’s eyes, reflecting on their previous year together.

Parts of this day were a bit of deja vu for me, as it was exactly one year ago I photographed Heather & Caleb exchanging vows on this very platform. That ceremony was just for parents, and on their first anniversary it was a full-tilt, full-sized Edgewater Pavillion wedding gathering with family & friends flown in from Texas, Kansas and Wyoming (well, they drove).
The couple’s Minister from Texas delivered a touching ceremony with lots of laughs, beginning with the accent-filled line “you can probably tell I’m not from here … I’m from Texas”. That got a lot of laughs, as his accent is not Texan … it’s South African.
Sharon from Best Day Floral provided the day’s color and Michael from Behind The Scenes catering had the tent swimming in savory smells. Michael’s the first caterer I’ve seen on the dance floor — joining the crowd during the “Cupid Shuffle.”
A great first day out at Edgewater! I’ll be returning for a few more weddings in the next month. Can’t wait!
