Jessica & Robin | Hat Day at Tapestry House | Laporte, Colorado
“Skol” is the traditional Swedish toast that Robin’s family was delivering on this fine Summer day. I once read that Norseman Vikings would behead the King of any tribe or army they and just vanquished and drink from his skull — spelled skoll — as a sign of respect (and a celebration of avoiding death for another day). It was actually used as a battle chant, in hopes of that celebritory drink ahead.
Viking toasts, and viking hats made their way into J+R’s super funfest — as did Ascots, Bonnets, Berets, Derbys, Caps, Deerstalkers, Fedoras, Turbans, Floppys and Panamas — but no Porkpies (I was looking). A celebration head covering, y’know in case in rains you’re set. At some point everyone starts trading hats and the fun really sets in.
