Crooked Willow Farms Wedding Photographer | Lauren + Seth
June days in Colorado bring their own temper, and it’s a great idea to have a Plan B in the event of inclimate weather. Usually, the concern might be rain but here we also get snow, hail and falling frogs. For Lauren & Seth’s funfest, rain was the challenge point for most of the day — but Crooked Willow Farms is set up well for an indoor ceremony. On the loft of their signature barn is a romantic ceremony spot that holds up to 80 people (first photo in this entry). Lit with candles, it’s every bit as distinctive as the outdoor ceremonies with a Colorado landscape view.
You don’t know this yet, but you love me
This couple’s meeting story was one of my favorites. Lauren is a political wonk, and was hosting a community forum on hydraulic fracturing (fracking). In walks our representative from the petroleum industry — Seth. During this contentious town hall debate, Lauren fell for Seth’s smooth and deliberate debating style. She fell for how his mind worked. She fell for his logic. She fell for his voice. At a chance follow up meeting a few weeks later, she fell for his large poodle. We she met his family, it was all over. Did he change your mind on fracking? Smiling, she remarked “he’s working on it.”
On the photography side, this was a smooth day for us (even with the rain). Lauren was clear about what must-have images she needed, but wanted us to blend with her friends and family and just capture the true spirit of the day. She wanted a wedding, not a photo shot — and we were happy to comply. After doing many weddings with their DJ Matt Martindale, we’re used to staying in the loop on reception timings — anticipating where to be next to capture this Crooked Willow Farms Wedding.
