Angela & Kris | Fort Collins Senior Center Wedding
Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Halls are usually constructed in the blink of an eye without much in the way of esthetics, grandeur or detail. While perfectly adequate for worship, many couples in the congregation seek outside venues (re: more photogenic) for weddings & receptions. Angela & Kris picked the Fort Collins Senior Center to host their Spring gathering. The pear trees where in beautiful April bloom for their outdoor ceremony and dinner hour light was just perfect.
Kris is a talented guitar player and he began the ceremony with solo playing which sequed nicely into the processional while he kept on playing. Dad walked Angela down the aisle just as Kris was winding down and the timing was perfect. Very cool.
After a brief ceremony under the huge Cottonwood, I suggested the couple put their receiving line right next to the Pear trees as I selfishly was thinking backdrop, backdrop, backdrop. That vertical shot of Angela hugging her Mom was the payoff! I shot that with my 85mm ƒ1.8 lens which is such a sweet lightweight telephoto and focuses in a nanosecond. The Senior Center was up to their usual excellent game and reminded me why I so often recommend them as an event site. The worst part? You have to print, “Fort Collins Senior Center” on your invitation. Maybe the managing committee should consider a second name just for Wedding and Mitzvah clients. How about “Cottonwood Terrace”?
The congregation elders attempted to keep the reception low key, but it was all over when Kris jumped up on stage for a quick romp of The Cars’ “Just What I Needed”, dedicated to his new bride. Nice. Planning a Fort Collins Senior Center wedding or another even in Fort Collins? I’d love to photograph it. Please click on the camera below to see if I’m available on your wedding day.
