Amira + Peter :: Denver Greek Orthodox Church Wedding
What a day! Amira & Peter’s not-to-be-missed wedding & reception at the Denver Greek Orthodox Church on Alameda. “Treat the church like it’s a member of the family” was Peter’s instructions to me regarding photography in the sanctuary. The Cathedral of Iconography is a bit overwhelming, it the colorful icons bring the Bible to life.
This particular wedding probably included the only Middle Eastern reception in the church’s history, complete with up to four hora chairs in the air at once. Amira’s Syrian roots were audible throughout the day as the women were ululating throughout the day — especially when she was getting her dress on. One white guy in a room with a room with 20 Syrian women laughing and making that distinctive trilling howl. Life is good. Then, the reception dancing … hours and hours. In the end, the Denver cop handing security was dancing. Phew.
If you’re planning a Greek Orthodox Church wedding, or Syrian reception, I’d love to photograph it. Click on my Dad’s camera below to see if I’m available on your day!
